Eyecare

We do more than just determine your prescription for glasses and contacts. Dr. Simonek examines the ocular health of the eye from front to back, evaluating for the eye for common eye diseases such as glaucoma, macular degenration, cataracts, ocular allergies and dry eyes. Early detection of these eye diseases is imperative for sustaining eye health and your overall well-being.

A dilated examination of the posterior portion of the eye (which is included with a comprehensive exam) facilitates evaluation for glaucoma, hypertensive and diabetic retinopathy, tumors and retinal holes/detachments. Optomap ultra-widefield retinal imaging is offered as an alternative to the traditional dilation to avoid the side effects of blurry vision and increased light sensitivity.

A detailed refraction of the patient's visual system to determine the best spectacle prescription for distance and near vision.

A screening for glaucoma including a visual field screening, intraocular pressure evaluation (no air puff test!) and optic nerve evaluation is conducted on every patient.

Optomap

The optomap ultra-widefield retinal image is a unique technology that captures more than 80% of your retina in one panoramic image while traditional imaging methods typically only show 15% of your retina at one time. Viewing the retina is crucial in the detection of many eye issues such as retinal tears or detachment, as well early detection of diseases like diabetes and glaucoma.
